A Farewell to Dr. Pepper

In haiku (ten stanzas, of course):

It makes me quite sad
to see you for what you are:
Bad, bad, bad for me.

We met. We courted.
Then I fell head over heels,
not seeing clearly!

Though I have cravings
for all twenty-three of your
bubbly-sweet flavors,

Way too much caffeine
gives me bad withdrawal headaches;
I don't function well.

And all that sugar!
My mom's a diabetic.
I know about carbs.

So for now, it's best
that we don't see each other.
Oh, what heartbreak!

Of course, I love you,
but you aren't the best for me,
and that must come first.

My passion for you,
I can't deny, will not ebb.
We will meet again.

In a while, perhaps,
we'll have an occasional,
blissful rendevouz.

But I can't commit.
There's something better for me.
It will be worth it.

have you thought about diet Dr. Pepper? Same great taste! Well, almost the same. I can tolerate it.

I can tolerate it too, but there's still the caffeine issue. I'd rather just hold off and enjoy the real deal as an occasional treat.
